Snake in OAC

Everyone, please take special care while going outside now days. I was saved today from stepping over a Naag (about 4 feet long, healthy) by about 5cm to 10 cm gap in OAC while coming out of the larger shade. Just about 2-3 seconds later, it was having its fangs open at a bird nearby in full anger.

Released in favor of AITians.

My Cube in AITians

The very popular 'virtual money' making website (and eventually convert it into real money) is getting popular in AITians. You simply need to register in the website and share your own creation (drawings, paintings, poems etc) for selling and buy others similar intellectual property. It will be in the forms of cubes. To check the site, click here.

  • MyCube is a "social exchange", a place where you can exchange information, ideas and content with others yet retain full ownership of what you share, control who you share it with, and determine your own terms of exchange.
  • MyCube uses its own virtual currency: "Cubes". These can be used to purchase and sell content. Cubes are tied to the Singapore dollar (S$), with a value of 100 cubes to S$1.

As the site is in beta version, you need an activation code to register (and earn money). For your help, we are providing an activation code.
mckaranr
This will enable for you also to register the same and propagate your own creations online and that too worth money. In addition to this, if selected, you may even get a training given by the company out of the nation. Enjoy the cubes.

Comp Pracs soft copies

The TE's of Computers have made an online collection of all the practicals' soft copies for the use of coming next generations (especially for taking print-outs in the days of submissions). These pracs are available at the following link.

This will save a lot of time searching for the soft copies by students every year in submission and exam days. Though not guaranteed at present (because the work is in progress and is at its initial stages) students are uploading only the fully working pracs. In case any prac found not working, they have also enabled even anonymous comment facility to report error so as to rectify for future uses.

Cooperation is expected from all compies from FE to BE.

The TE's request for the current BE's to kindly submit their pracs also so as they can also be uploaded.

Earlier, this blog was named as AIT Dighi, but due to some technical snam in blogger dot com, it was deleted and now made again with the name, AIT Comp.

Fire of fines.. Once again??

A list of 25 most severe Bio-metric punch defaulters have been launched recently by the administration. It includes 13 SEs, 7 TEs and 5 BEs as per the list put up in OBH. Earlier, about 60 to 70 students were in previous list with fine of Rs. 200/- each. Those students were not given the mess fee refund unless they presented the 'fine paid' slip of the BOB.

This time, the fine has been incremented by Rs. 300/- making a sum total of Rs. 500/- each student. And if this time, the fine is not paid soon, these 25 students will be made Hostel Out. Indeed a threat at the end of session when exams are approaching.

Fun Fact:
Those students having any LGs may go for the Hostel Out option keeping in mind that almost all the submissions are soon to be over this week. Next is they just need to come to college only to give the exam. :) lolz.. Its only 20 days left without any classes.

The Fan Drop: Serious issue for AIT Hostels

Yesterday, at about 10:30 PM, a ceiling fan dropped on the floor in working state rotating at full speed, and that too without a warning.

The remains of the fan
The incident happened in 009-B of OBH. Just 5-10 seconds prior to the fall of the fan, the residents of the room, Nitin Grewal and Raj Kumar were standing beneath it talking, whereas the third room mate, Manjeet Nandal was on the other side of the room on his own bed. This could have been a major accident with even a loss of life, had the fan dropped on the head of someone.

The incident was immediately informed to the attendent present in the hostel at that moment. When no response came in return, except a consolation to the loss of property, the incident was baught into light to the Rector of Hostel, Mr. Roderigues in presence of Warden, Mr. Shekhawat. An immediate action was taken. The warden told that this is a major problem and the similar incidents have also occurred twice in NBH.

To be noted that the flank 'Groud-B' was recently repaired and all the setup of fans and other electric instruments were recently done few months back. Yet, the fan dropped. All the three room mates had to spend the entire warm night without fan, and with mosquitoes.

No more a CEILING Fan, but a FLOOR fan
This could have led to a major injury. Today morning, the electrician came to the victims' room and inspected the reason. He told that the nut and bolt used was of very low grade and poor quality. We were shown the broken bolt and compared with that of bolt which was recommended (but not used). The broken bolt was almost half in diameter than that of recommended.

Are you safe? May be your fan also drop tomorrow? Who is responsibile? Be a responsible for your own life. Demand for a thorough check for all fans' bolts in the hostels and Adm. blobk. It is for your own safety.

Its not a question of cost of a bolt. Its not about the damage of a fan. Its not a matter of laugh. Its not a joke. Its a question of your life, your career. Take it seriously.

As if AIT won the world cup

After India won the ICC World Cup 2011, AITians celebrated the moments with pride. A dream came true to see how world cup seems for those who were born after 1983.

It was a great news for the nation. Well done India. Congrats. We are proud to be Indians.

Fun Facts: Most of the team captains whose name initialised with 'S' were out of the world Cup. For example: Strauss, Sammy, Smith, Shakib and Shahid. Hence it could be predicted that Sangakara would also loose the Cup. And India Won.

AITians for India

Crowd in the Old Boys Mess
Yesterday's match between India and Pakistan for World Cup 2011 final saw a great enthusiasm in the entire nation. The similar was the scene in AIT. Students gave an over reaction to the match. Many students bunked the classes.

Boys leaving mess after first innings
Lots and lots of students could be seen watching the crucial match in Hostel Mess, live streaming in the rooms and as the darkness appeared, the crowd directed towards the big screen of Raman Theatre in the academic block. The theatre was booming with the commentry of the match with the live video directly from the DD National with ultimate video quality.

Huge waves of claps and shouts did almost shake the walls of the premises. On every dot ball, every wicket and every boundary, the volume increased hundred times. And as the India won the match with the final wicket drop of Pakistan, students ran up the stage and started dancing.

We are not aware yet whether the finals for WC will also be projected in Raman Theater.

Fun Facts:
1) More claps and shouts came up for the 'beautiful faces' that came in between the match showcased in the theater.

Happy Holi

Administration announced holiday on 19th March and 20th March on occasion of Holika Dahan and Dhulandi. The notice can be seen on your respective notice boards. What would be arrangements for celebrating the colorful festival in open air is yet unknown to us. But at least we hope, that unlike last year, we will get water to bath after playing colors.

And yes, keep in mind. The washerman will not accept your colored clothes unless they are once washed by you as well. Please play an eco-friendly Holi with organic colors. Take care of eyes. Kindly avoid eggs and other cosmetics. Enjoy. Happy Holi from us.

Fun Facts:
1) 19th March was already a holiday, for being the third Saturday of the month.
2) 20th March was already a holiday, for being Sunday. :)
3) The image shown adjacent is the a copy of official Notice on the OBH Notice Board. See carefully. It was intended for Library.

Two AITians organising National level competition

Abhishek Jha (SE Comp) and Neeraj Parmar (SE Comp) from AIT are organising a national level coding competition. The competition is named as "Coder Cup". The online registrations for this competition have not yet started. They are most probably starting from March 13, 2011. The website for this 'cup' is http://www.codercup.com/.

Initially, both these guys started their journey with a mindset of getting internship from a local company in Pune. Soon, they made a company of their own named as NOTION. They launched a website "FUNTI". After its success, their ambitions got increased and they contacted a company, FUTURE-TECH. They made a deal with it and started the grand project.

Few of the major cities being covered under this competition are Pune, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Mumbai, Jaipur and Lucknow. The winners will be provided with the prizes of Branded Laptop, Cash prizes, internships with package of Rs. 2 Lakh. And not only this. The college whose students get among the top 50 ranks (All India) will be visited by the Future Tech for internships.
