Today, few BE's sat on a hunger strike for some of their demands not getting accepted. The rest of the college came to know about the event when they saw some BE's in OAC with a banner of "HUNGER STRIKE" in the tea-break at 11:15AM.
The BE's say that the strictness has been increased beyond the limits. Their point of view is that AIT is not NDA. The students are still civilians and should not be treated as recruits. The restrictions on outgoing, cutting electricity in day time and forceful class attending were few of the many griefs of BEs. This event came out with some fruitful results as follows:
1) Administration accepted that now-onwards, BEs will be allowed to get whole-day outpass on wednesdays (as wednesdays are the project days of BEs) without any need of HOD permission.
2) The Wi-Fi IPs will be provided to all the BEs irrespective of the maximum number-limit of internet access users. Earlier, this limit was set to just 60 students on the 'first come first serve' basis.
3) There was also a discussion on the biometric fingerprint system installed in the hostels.
An inportant thing to note was that the participants in the strike already had breakfast as well as lunch. Meanwhile, the strike was organised and was a success.
